An Essential Alliance

In 1903, the U.S. established diplomatic relations with Ethiopia, one of the first of its kind in Africa.

For well over a century, the two countries have had mutually beneficial partnerships and cooperation on regional and global strategic initiatives promoting peace, stability and development.

Find out more about AEPAC’s mission below.

The American Ethiopian Public Affairs Committee (AEPAC) is dedicated to promote a positive, synergetic relationship between the United States and Ethiopia. AEPAC’s core mission is to strengthen and enhance the century-old relationship between the United States and Ethiopia. AEPAC strives to build a strong partnership based on the common interests and mutual benefits of the two countries.

Strategic Relationship

AEPAC aims to create an active dialogue between the U.S. administration, legislators, and civil society leaders to ensure Ethiopia’s strategic importance as a reliable and dependable US ally continues to be recognized. Both countries are dedicated to upholding the rule of law and honoring human rights. AEPAC promotes entrepreneurship and free market economy, US security and business interest in the African continent, while enhancing Ethiopia’s role as an anchor of regional stability and a proponent of multiparty democracy.

Bipartisan Support

Bipartisan Support

AEPAC aims to work with Democrats and Republicans across the United States as well as other elected officials in the spirit of bipartisanship to foster U.S.-Ethiopia mutually beneficial relationship, regional development and overall African security. AEPAC members participate in political discourse and community activities aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations and peoples.

Mutual Security

U.S.-Ethiopia partnership  plays a vital role in the success of U.S. initiatives in the African region, particularly in the Horn of Africa. It is AEPAC’s mission to keep Ethiopia as one of the most crucial partners of the United States on the African continent by promoting closer strategic ties between the two countries.

Voter Registration and Mobilization

Voting is the bed rock of democracy, and one of AEPAC’s civic responsibilities. We organize and mobilize American Ethiopians and like-minded voters of all race and creed across the United States to lobby Republicans, Democrats and Independents to pursue a shared mission of strengthening and expanding the U.S.-Ethiopia relationship.
